the Singing women of

southeast texas

The organization began in 1994 with a debut concert at the Church MusiConference in Waco, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Church Music in Texas. The event was enjoyed so much by over 300 women that they returned to their cities to form 14 independent chapters of Singing Women. Today seven chapters continue to be active in ministry and missions throughout their area of the state, nationally and internationally. They have had the privilege to present the Gospel through music in area churches, community events, prisons, amusement parks, retirement communities and other venues.

The music of Singing Women includes contemporary, southern gospel, hymn arrangements and patriotic selections. Singing Women is a Ministry of The Baptist General Convention of Texas and is partially funded by the Cooperative Program of the BGCT.

The Singing Women of Texas provides a ministry opportunity for Texas Baptist women who are committed to musical excellence and who are currently serving the Lord through their local church music ministries. SWOT is comprised of both professional and nonprofessional singers and instrumentalists representing Texas Baptist churches.
